There Do Be Dragons

To escape the heat of town I popped out the road to Alarcos by the river specifically to see what odontate action I might find...and there was plenty. Take the gorgoeus female Red-veined Darter, isn´t she just a beautiful compliment to the male of the previous entry?

And then I found a Small Pincertail. Note the different type of tail appendages.

And of course there were Emperors and Bluets about. I think the following is an Emperor and will update accordingly. They were about but this one is a bit pale and the frons doesn´t look right for one.

This whole insect world is fascinating, when they´re not arachnids that is...

  1. Very cool Mike. Great shots.

Have been trying to find dragonflies here for ages but with no luck. Keep getting loads of damselflies, but they ain't dragons ;-)
